Troy Newman is a Senior Partner for Group Nine Risk Consulting and works with organizations to prevent violence and mitigate risk. He is a retired U.S. Army officer, with service in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has advised U.S. Ambassadors and senior interagency leaders as a subject matter expert on security risk management in politically sensitive and complex security environments.
After 25 years of service as an Army law enforcement officer, Troy transitioned to state government, leading a 30-person team to provide emergency management, resilience and continuity planning, exercises, education, and training for 39 counties, 29 tribal partners and over 30 state agencies. In his role with Washington Emergency Management Division, he worked closely with state and federal partners to respond to several natural and man-made disasters and coordinated the delivery of a state-wide exercise with over 600 participants from the private and non-profit sectors, higher education, school districts, cities, counties, state agencies, tribal, and federal partners.
Troy holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Mercer University, is board certified in security management by ASIS International, and is an active member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals. Troy is passionate about protecting people and mitigating risk.
